Volunteer with Ripen the MeriSTEM!

Help bring hands-on STEM learning to our community.

Enjoy helping others, working with young people, or making community events run smoothly? We’d love to hear from you! Ripen the Meristem (RTM) welcomes volunteers ages 13 through adults to support engaging STEM experiences for children and families.

You don’t need a science background to make a difference. Whether you’re a student seeking service hours, a professional interested in sharing your skills, or a community member who wants to lend a hand, there may be a place for you.

How You Can Help

Volunteer needs vary by event and may include:

  • Setup and cleanup: Arrange tables, prepare activity spaces, and help pack up afterward.

  • Welcoming participants: Greet families, assist with check-in, and help people find their way.

  • Hands-on activity support: Help participants follow instructions, use materials, and explore STEM concepts.

  • Supply preparation: Organize, distribute, and replenish activity materials.

  • Food service: Help distribute food and keep the eating area organized at events that include refreshments.

We’ll match volunteers with tasks based on event needs, interests, age, and experience. Instructions will be provided for assigned roles.

Who Can Volunteer?

Our volunteer opportunities are open to anyone ages 13 or older. Volunteers under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian before participating. Assignments for younger volunteers will reflect their age and supervision needs.

We ask volunteers to arrive on time, follow event instructions, treat everyone respectfully, and let us know promptly if their availability changes.

Need school or community service hours? Tell us on your application, including any deadlines verification requirements, so we can discuss whether the opportunity meets your needs.

How to Sign Up

  1. Complete the volunteer interest form. Share your contact information and availability.

  2. Select the event or events that interest you. You can also express interest in future opportunities if you don’t see an event that fits your schedule.

  3. Look for a follow-up from RTM. We’ll contact you about available roles and any additional steps, including parent or guardian permission for volunteers under 18.

  4. Receive your assignment and event details. Once your participation is confirmed, we’ll share your arrival time, location, responsibilities, and any preparation needed.

Submitting the form is an expression of interest; your volunteer assignment is confirmed only after you hear from RTM. You can express interest in one event or several—an ongoing commitment is not required.
