RTM Family STEM Night
Bring students and their families together for an engaging evening of discovery featuring interactive, hands-on STEM stations in areas such as chemistry, biology, neuroscience, engineering, and physics. Each event is tailored to the participants’ ages, expected attendance, available space, and the host organization’s goals.
Ideal for: Elementary and middle schools, libraries, churches, community organizations, after-school programs, and family-engagement events
Recommended audience: Families with children in grades K–12
Duration: 90 minutes to 2 hours
RTM provides: Event planning, age-appropriate STEM activities, standard activity materials, station instructions, setup guidance, and program facilitation
Host provides: An appropriate event space; tables and chairs; access before and after the event for setup and cleanup; event promotion and participant registration; and adult volunteers or staff to assist at stations when needed
Typical investment: $500–$1,000, based on the number of stations, expected attendance, materials, staffing, and level of customization
"STEM Unlocked: Question It. Test It. Become It."
Students become scientists as they investigate a question, complete a hands-on STEM challenge, interpret their results, and connect the experience to real STEM careers. This interactive workshop combines scientific reasoning, experimentation, and career exploration and can be customized to fit the participants’ ages and interests.
Ideal for: Middle and high schools, summer camps, college-access programs, churches, youth organizations, and after-school programs
Recommended audience: Grades 6–12
Duration: 60–90 minutes
RTM provides: Workshop design and facilitation, standard activity materials for the agreed-upon number of participants, STEM career and educational-pathway content, and optional participant handouts
Host provides: A classroom or multipurpose space; tables and chairs suitable for hands-on activities; a projector and screen when available; and staff supervision for participants
Typical investment: $400–$900 for one workshop, depending on the number of participants, materials, duration, and customization. Programs serving more than 30 participants or requiring multiple rotations receive a customized quote.
Mastering STEM Courses
This interactive academic-success workshop equips students with practical strategies for managing rigorous STEM courses, studying effectively, using academic resources, seeking assistance, and responding productively to academic challenges. Participants apply the strategies through realistic scenarios, guided discussion, and an individualized action plan.
Ideal for: High school, colleges and universities, after-school programs, summer bridge programs, STEM departments, academic-support offices, student organizations, and college-readiness programs
Recommended audience: Undergraduate students; an adapted version is available for high school juniors and seniors preparing for college
Duration: 60–90 minutes
RTM provides: Customized presentation content, interactive case studies and activities, workshop facilitation, and a digital participant resource or action-planning guide
Host provides: An appropriate meeting room or virtual platform; projector, screen, and sound equipment for in-person programs; participant recruitment; and one institutional contact for planning and coordination
Typical investment: $300–$550 for an in-person workshop or $200–$350 for virtual delivery, depending on customization, audience size, duration, and requested materials

Final pricing depends on the program selected, number of participants, program length, materials, staffing, location, and level of customization.
RTM will provide a final quote after confirming the program format, expected attendance, location, materials, and any requested modifications.
A limited number of sponsored or reduced-cost programs may be available to qualifying schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups. Availability depends on grant funding, sponsorships, program capacity, and the resources required to deliver the requested service.
A deposit may be required to begin purchasing materials or developing customized content. Deposit requirements, payment deadlines, cancellation terms, and the remaining balance will be included in the program agreement.
Yes. Selected workshops, seminars, tutoring sessions, consultations, and professional-development programs can be delivered virtually. Pricing for virtual programs depends on the duration, number of participants, level of customization, and materials or digital resources requested.
Travel within RTM’s designated local service area (Delmarva Region, DC, MD, Northern VA) is generally included in the quoted price. Programs outside the local service area may require additional mileage, travel, lodging, or transportation expenses, which will be identified before the program is confirmed.
Standard activity materials are included for the number of participants identified in the final program agreement. Additional charges may apply for larger groups, specialized supplies, individual take-home kits, or unusually costly materials.
Organizations are encouraged to submit requests at least two weeks before the preferred program date. Larger events, extensively customized programs, and programs requiring specialized materials or multiple facilitators may require additional planning time.
Host requirements depend on the program but may include an appropriate event space, tables and chairs, access to electrical outlets and water, audiovisual equipment, participant registration, event promotion, staff supervision, and volunteers to assist with activity stations. RTM will provide a detailed list of requirements before the event.
Yes. RTM can adapt the program topic, activities, difficulty level, duration, career focus, and delivery format to reflect the ages, interests, and goals of your participants. Additional fees may apply when customization requires substantial program development, specialized materials, or additional staffing, but we work hard to meet your budget.
RTM may provide individual services (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching, academic guidance, etc.) at no cost depending on the nature of the request, the individual’s circumstances, and RTM’s available capacity.
A complimentary initial consultation is typically offered to identify the individual’s goals and determine the appropriate level of support; if additional sessions or services are recommended, RTM will provide an itemized plan and quote that will be adjusted based on the individual’s needs and available resources.
To encourage consistent attendance and protect reserved appointment time, some complimentary or reduced-cost services may be subject to a cancellation and missed-appointment policy.

Volunteer and Community Services
Career Day Participation
Invite an experienced neuroscientist, former biology professor, and STEM nonprofit leader to speak with students about careers in science, higher education, scientific research, and the many pathways available within STEM. Career Day participation may include brief career presentations, informal conversations, question-and-answer sessions, and the display of science-related materials or hands-on demonstrations appropriate for the event format.
Ideal for: Elementary, middle, and high schools; colleges; youth organizations; community events; and career fairs
Format: Participation in an existing career day, career fair, or career-exploration event
RTM provides: A STEM professional participant, career information, discussion with students, and available display materials or simple hands-on demonstrations appropriate for the setting
Host provides: Event space, a table and chairs when applicable, event instructions, schedule information, participant supervision, and any required audiovisual equipment
Cost: Career Day participation is offered as a volunteer service at no cost for events located within 60 miles of Cambridge, Maryland, subject to scheduling availability. Travel expenses or an honorarium may be requested for events outside this service area.
Science Fair and STEM Conference Judging
RTM provides qualified volunteer judges for school, regional, and community science fairs, research competitions, poster sessions, STEM conferences, and related academic events. Judging may include reviewing student projects, evaluating presentations, asking research-based questions, providing constructive feedback, and selecting award recipients according to the host organization’s established criteria.
Ideal for: Schools, colleges and universities, science fairs, research symposia, STEM competitions, youth organizations, and conference organizers
Format: In-person or virtual participation in an existing judging or project-review process
RTM provides: An experienced STEM professional with expertise in neuroscience, cellular and molecular biology, scientific research, higher education, and student mentoring
Host provides: Judging criteria, scoring materials or platform access, event instructions, project assignments, schedule information, and any required orientation or training
Cost: Judging is offered as a volunteer service at no cost for events located within 60 miles of Cambridge, Maryland, as well as for selected virtual events, subject to availability. Travel expenses or an honorarium may be requested for in-person events outside this service area.
Community Event Participation
RTM participates in community-sponsored events by providing brief, accessible seminars on science-related topics or by serving as an educational exhibitor or vendor. These opportunities are designed to complement an event that has already been planned and organized by the host and may include science information, career resources, informal demonstrations, audience questions, or interactive educational displays.
Ideal for: Nonprofit organizations, churches, libraries, neighborhood associations, health and wellness events, community festivals, resource fairs, and other community-based groups
Format: A brief informational science seminar, educational exhibit, vendor table, resource table, question-and-answer session, or participation in an existing panel or community program
Recommended duration: Informational seminars are generally 20–45 minutes; exhibitor or vendor participation follows the host event’s established schedule
RTM provides: A qualified STEM professional, science or career information related to the agreed-upon topic, available educational materials, and a presentation or display appropriate for the event format
Host provides: The event venue; audience recruitment and promotion; event coordination; a table and chairs when applicable; access to electricity, internet, or audiovisual equipment when required; and any event-specific instructions, permits, or registration materials
Cost: Eligible nonprofit and community organizations located in the Delmarva region may request one complimentary informational seminar per calendar year, subject to RTM’s availability. Participation as an exhibitor or vendor at selected community-sponsored events may also be provided at no cost when RTM joins an existing event rather than designing or managing the program. Vendor registration fees, specialized materials, extensive preparation, travel, or customized programming may require reimbursement or an itemized quote.
